Ten June: Snow Day & Chili Baskets

I have felt like a little kid all day. And it's not just the ridiculous amounts of hot chocolate that I've been drinking or the zebra print Snuggie that hasn't come off all day. It's how excited I am over a SNOW DAY!

As if you didn't know already, it doesn't snow much here in the peach state. It actually snowed in Georgia on Christmas day, but David and I were at my parent's house and didn't get to experience the snow at our house. We finally got our first big snow at the house last night, this morning and all day! We spent the day snowed in (and likely will be again tomorrow, too!). Gotta love snow days.

(now you can see why I didn't attempt the drive to work! that's our street)

Anyone up for a swim?!

This is my sweet little guy, Tucker. He thinks snow is for eating.

And my girl, Maggie, doesn't like cold paws. So she runs non-stop when she's in the snow!

And what's a snow day without an ah-maz-ing bowl of chili in a chili basket?!

I stole this idea from Paula Deen a few years ago. Simply slap a couple of pre-made biscuits

on the underside of a muffin pan and cook, like so.

Once you pop them off the baking sheet, you're left with a little bowl, perfect for holding chili.

How cute are those?! And incredibly good, trust me!

Love the bread bowls...such a great idea, I will definitely have to remember that!

You guys definitely got a lot more snow than we got in Texas, but I still loved the little flurries that we saw.

I made chili on Sunday, but I've never heard of this "chili basket" thing! I might just have to attempt it for the leftovers!

P.S. I'm extremely jealous of your snow day! We're supposed to get 3-5 in. today and tomorrow, but I'm guessing it won't be enough for the boss-man to let me stay home!!

I feel so left out. Everyone is experiencing snow except me lol! Send some down here to Florida!!! .... well... on second thought, keep the snow. People wouldn't know how to drive in it out there on the roads. Scary!

I am totally stealing that biscuit/muffin tin idea :)

I think from all this snow now ice, I am developing a case of cabin fever. I cant get out of my neighborhood because the only way out is a steep hill....eek!

Pretty sure we'll have a snow day tomorrow. The snow is heading here and they are predicting alot.

Snow days are great!!! Although, I am really starting to get concerned that the uniforms are getting printed!!! The chili looks yummy. Hubby had a grand time playing in the Hummer yesterday!!

I just posted about our snow day too!!! We rarely get snow either (I'm souther, too!). It was lovely. I LOVE the bread bowls idea...will have to make those sometime for my husband, he'd dig it too. :)

I will definitely be trying those chili bowls! I think I have that recipe stuffed away somewhere, but I have never used it. One of my goals {in addition to the thousand others} is to start cooking some of these recipes I find and stick back. Enjoy the snow! We RARELY get a snow day here in South Alabama.

Love the idea. We had a snow day here in Columbia,SC also. We also just got notified that school is also closed tomorrow. My dog also doesn't like the snow or rain for that matter.
