Hi friends! What do you have planned this weekend?
I'll be doing laundry and getting packed for my big trip to San Francisco next week! In addition to the big blogger meet up, my sister and I will be in the city for a few days on vacation. I'm having some trouble packing- summertime + 60 degree weather is pretty confusing for this Georgia girl who is used to 100 degree+ heat indexes! I'm thinking layers? So sweaters and shorts or skirts for the day with longer pants for night? I'm just not sure! Maybe daytime sightseeing outfits like this....
What do you west coasters think? You've got to help me and my sister pack!
Also, what are some things you Bay Area folks recommend us doing? Of course, we're going to do all of the big touristy stuff around the city, but I'd love to hear suggestions for "off the beaten path" restaurants, shops, areas, nightlife and any other things to do! Oh! And we will hopefully hit up wine country for a day (we are thinking we'll drive from the city unless any of you have any good recommendations for a guided tour?), so any suggestions for that area are also welcomed.
Thanks for the insight!
Have a great weekend!
My brother lives in San Fran. When we go to visit him we head up to Russian River valley for wine tastings. It's a lot less touristy and they don't charge for the tastings like they do in Napa. My favorite winery there was Foppiano. The town near it, which I can't remember the name of, is also adorable. It's set up on a square and has great restaurants.
ReplyDeleteHave a safe trip and a great time!

Pack long pants-summer in SF can be chilly-not white shorts weather at all! (Adorable outfits though!)
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid I couldn't tell you what to pack either, haha. I also live in 100+ degree weather on the daily.
ReplyDeleteComfortable walking shoes, cute jeans, and a warmer sweater or jacket for night time. Have fun!
ReplyDeleteAnon- Thanks for the inisght! I am definitely bringing pants for night, but was hoping to get away with shorts during the day? Hm. Maybe more sundresses + sweaters + leggings?
ReplyDeleteOh what a wonderful time you will have!! I tried so hard to make plans to come out there and meet with you all, but it just wouldn't work out in the budget with my other trips planned :( We need to have an east coast blogger meet up for real!! ;)
ReplyDeleteI am planning on Jean capris or white pants during the days . . .with tanks and a light sweater. Maybe a couple of long maxi dresses as well with a sweater. Can't wait to ding dong ditch your hotel room door!
ReplyDeleteI live a couple of hours south of San Fran but the weather is identical. Shorts might be pushing it, especially since you will likely already be cold since you are coming from the sunny South. I would recommend pants and maxi skirts, and definitely layering on top. Have a great time!
ReplyDeleteOh YAYYY! It's going to be here so soon! :) I would definitely go to Sonoma if you're going to wine country...way more low key and different wines. I love it there! Can't wait to meet you in less than a week!
ReplyDeleteI am so bummed I'm not going! In our Georgia heat even shorts are too warm!! LOL Have a great time and enjoy those cooler temps...be sure to bring them back with you.
ReplyDeletelayer, layer, layer! I have a friend who lives there and se says it can be hot one one side and you go to the other side by the ocean and it is cool and damp.
ReplyDeleteHave fun!

have a great time at the blogger meet up! and your vacation! sounds like a great time. loving your outfit too! xoxo jillian:: cornflake dreams
ReplyDeleteIt's cold here in the city! Turn those white shorts into white pants and make sure you bring a jacket warmer than a cardigan. You'd get by with wearing sandals, but make sure you layer up the rest of your outfit. The thing about San Francisco is that one day it can be 85 degrees and the next it's 65 and raining (like it was on Wednesday!). You'll have great weather in Napa, so I'd bring a cute summer dress.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite places to go for restaurants and boutiques are Fillmore St. (near California St). Union St and Chestnut St. From Chestnut St you walk 5 minutes and you are at the Marina Green which is where you can walk to the Golden Gate Bridge from and see Alcatraz and the city. My blogger profile picture was taken on the Marina Green with the bridge in front of me and the city behind me.
I'm free all next week so let me know if you'd like to meet up for lunch. I'd love to show you my favorite places in that neighborhood!
ahhh you're coming to SF? send me an email i'll give you a whole list of things to do (i live here too!)
ReplyDeleteI'm so jealous of your trip to SF--and of the blogger meet-up! They're so fun :) I love love love all the goodies you picked out! I also thought this made for a perfect Friday's Fancies post, so I added it to the link-up! xoxo {av}
ReplyDeletedefinitely a great west coast casual outfit, but you might be a bit chilly in SF and definitely bring that sweater along you will probably need it. hope you have a wonderful trip :-) meg
ReplyDeleteShorts could be risky. When we were there, pants were pretty much a necessity. Not only cause of the 60ish temps, but also because it gets windy, depending on when you are. As you get farther from the water, it obviously gets warmer. I'm certainly no expert, but that's my two cents.
ReplyDeleteHave fun in SF- so jealous! Love the outfit!
ReplyDeletei'm thinking i would be wearing jeans and sweaters in 60 degrees! i'm so used to the 100+ heat right now...60 sounds freezing! :) i've been eyeing that striped shirt too. i love it.
ReplyDeleteI am a San Francisco dweller and it was cold and wet today (I had to use my windshield wipers!). I would definitely bring some pants and layering items. The weather here is so crazy though....could be warm this weekend! If you head up to the wine country, I would recommend Sonoma over Napa. Both are beautiful, but Sonoma has an adorable town square with great restaurants and boutiques. Enjoy your trip!
ReplyDeletePS - I very much enjoy reading your blog!
You're going to have so much fun! I'd say layers are the way to go. Have fun girl!
ReplyDeleteAs they saying goes, "The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco." There even micro-climates within the city itself, neighborhood to neighborhood! I was super lucky when we went, it was sunny the whole weekend. Apparently that's a rarity. You are totally on target with layers!
ReplyDeleteSausalito is great, such a cute town with beautiful views and eateries. I actually enjoyed Alcatraz, but it was because my sister was dating a park ranger at the time and we got a very creepy behind the scenes tour and got to see areas usually closed off to the public. Like I said, creepy, but it was amazing. The Marin Headlands are beautiful and you can get amazing photos of the bridge if it's not too foggy. We enjoyed Sonoma but went with friends that lived there so I have no idea where we actually went. It was fun, to say the least!
That's about all I remember from when I visited years ago, have a great time, can't wait to hear all about it!
Love everything here! We just got back last night from a week in San Diego, it was great!
ReplyDeleteBring a jacket!!!! It's very very windy here in the summer! The temps are supposed to be warmer as the week progresses so fingers crossed but again weather changes literally neighborhood to neighborhood and once the fog starts to roll in you will really be wishing you had a jacket and scarf on hand! Sad I will miss the meet up but can't wait to read all about it! Hope you enjoy our beautiful city by the bay even if it is a bit windy and chilly in the summer! Definitely check out the Ferry Building for all kinds of delicious treats and some amazing views of the bay! xo
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to hear all about the blogger meet up!
