I'm not sure if you guys have noticed, but I'm a little old school. I still like to hold books in my hand (no e-readers for me!), I keep all receipts I get so that I can balance my checking account and... wait for it... I don't use Pinterest.
Well, that's kind of a lie. I use the Pinterest website all of the time. Trust me- I can spend hours scrolling through the beautiful images with the best of 'em. But I don't have an account of my own. My old school self still keeps all of my inspirational pictures in a binder in my office. It's jam packed with ripped glossy magazine pages, rainbows of paint chips and fabric samples.
The other day, I decided to peruse my inspiration binder, as it had been awhile since I looked through it. As I flipped through the pages, I was floored by how many of my "dream" projects I had accomplished! I pulled David away from the Braves game he was watching and we went through the stack, remembering all of the work we've done. I felt like we should give ourselves a little pat on the back!
Here are some of my favorites, straight from my inspiration book.

White Bathroom Vanity

Well... we all know how this story goes! I actually hated the PB vanity once we got it in our almost-complete remodeled bathroom. But even though we're on track with a new vanity now, the majority of our bathroom is modeled off of this beautiful inspiration picture. Here's my design board for the room, just in case you missed it.

It's definitely fun to see that so many of the beautiful images that inspire me have somehow worked their way into my house. And flipping through my book makes me remember how many more projects I am ready to get started on! If only there were 94 hours in a day, right?
What inspirational images have YOU turned into projects lately? And better yet, how do YOU organize what inspires you? Please tell me there are some old schoolers out there like me! :)

Good for you for accomplishing SO much!! I love looking through my inspiration binder and realizing that my style has stayed pretty consistent through the years...though slightly updated!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun post! You've really done a lot of cool projects!
ReplyDeleteWow, you've really accomplished a lot! I have my inspiration pics all over the place - pinterest, file folders, magazines. Problem is I can never find the right pic when I'm working on a project!
ReplyDeleteHow cool! You certainly have accomplished a lot of your projects. Im jealous, heck we haven't even touched our bathroom remodel in about a month and a half [we had a leak in our roof and had to spend a lot of $$$$ to have it ripped off, new wood... etc... UGH!].
ReplyDeleteLove everything you have done and although I consider myself old school as well [no e-reader, no twitter and just recently upgraded my phone to a smartphone lol] I do have a pinterest and am so looking forward to tackling some of the projects I have found on there :)
Wow, you have carried out your inspiration beautifully! I love that you still keep your inspiration pages in a binder, and I'm so impressed with how wonderfully you executed them! Xo, Katie
ReplyDeleteWow! You've done a great job turning your inspirtations into projects and completing them! And your interpretation of them all is great! I have the problem of starting projects but not finish them. Perhaps I'll use YOU as inspiration to actually a finish a few of them! Thanks :)
ReplyDeleteoh my goodness, you go girl! A lot of my inspirations/projects go left uncompleted haha
ReplyDeleteCute way to look back at your inspirations. Can't wait to hear about your trip.
ReplyDeletei am so old school like you and don't organize well at all... it's all up here, baby (pointing to my head). maybe i should come up with a plan since in the next couple months i will actually have a new place to decorate!
ReplyDeleteSo so fun! I love going through the PB catalog, finding great inspiration and then recreating it my way. I just love love love that style!
ReplyDeleteLove it all, but now I have to try that calendar! I made a similar one using paint samples! And I am with you, I use Pinterest, but still have a folder full of ripped pages from magazines! :)
ReplyDeleteHappy week!!
That is so much fun to go through a home and see all the progress! Great work :)
ReplyDeleteI don't have a Pinterest account either, and ummm I'll confess I still haven't even gone on there - so you are ahead of me!! :) My friends keep telling me how much I would love it. I think you have some amazing inspiration pictures!! And you've done a fantastic job at recreating them! Seriously, your house looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteGreat job with carrying out your inspiration pictures! I too, have many inspiration pictures that are responsible for many of the things in my home. I don't know what I would do without blogs and magazines....have a really ugly house I guess!
ReplyDeleteI'm old school about a lot too, but Pinterest is just so dang easy! your projects are all great!
ReplyDeleteMichelle- you are so amazing and inspiring. You always make me want to make my home a prettier place. Your projects are all fantastic. One day I am going to redo the area around my fireplace in the black granite/marble look, just like yours. It is perfect.

You should be very proud of all of your accomplishments and projects - that's a great list!
ReplyDeleteI knew we were kindred spirits. ;) I love real books too...no e-books here. I still get BH&G and Southern Living delivered to my house...but I don't make the time to read them like I should. I do, however, love using Pinterest to visually organize my online finds. Now I need to be better about turning that inspiration into reality. ;)
ReplyDeleteLoved seeing these!! I still get lots of magazines in the mail and keep them all for design projects and inspiration. I'm planning on doing a collage of my face images on my new bedroom wall (for my house at school). There's something about tangibly touching the magazine pictures that I still love!
ReplyDeleteI am totally with you on the magazines! I probably spend more on magazines at the grocery store than I do on groceries and my favorite hot date is a trip to Barnes and Nobles to see if anything new has come out! My rationale is that I can always go back and look at them again later but I usually don't. Oh, well....I likes what I likes. :)
ReplyDeleteI like my books in paper form too. Btw, you really should get a pinterest acct. I rarely pin new things, but it's nice to follow certain people who have great stuff. And the feeds are always different when i'm actually logged in...
ReplyDeleteI love how the inspiration photos worked into your house. You did a wonderful job! By the way - I read real books with paper pages too!

You've done a great job Michelle! I'll one up you...I don't have a facebook account...can't stand it!
ReplyDeleteI’ll never give up my books for an e-reader! NEVER! Haha! Oh, and I still write checks and mail my bills…so old school.
ReplyDeleteEverything is so pretty! I'm loving the way your versions turned out :)
ReplyDeleteGreat post! I have never kept all of my inspiration images, but I really liked seeing how you accomplished everything in your home, compared to the magazine images. You've inspired me to start saving my inspiration images!
ReplyDeleteHow fun to look back at all your inspiration turned into real life in your home! And now your home is so inspiring!
ReplyDeleteIt is fun to look back and see all you have accomplished, isn't it? You have done so many great projects Michelle!! While I am a huge, huge, humungous fan of Pinterest these days, there is nothing like sitting on the couch flipping through my newest edition of House Beautiful.....I practically skip from the mailbox when it arrives! However, not so good with the checkbook!!
ReplyDeleteWhat an accomplishment!! and everything looks so great in your home!! I've been getting pretty crafty lately in these summer months!! I made a memo board similar to your picture frame and I love it!
ReplyDeleteI am planning on building my own home in the next year or two and I love to look at Pottery Barn for inspiration too. :) Your take on their looks is really cool! I really liked the mud room, bedroom and living room. :)
