The Genie Series: Go Haus Go

Hi friends! Thanks so much for sharing your Christmas crafts yesterday over on Cassie's blog. I'm amazed at how many beautiful projects you guys have been working on! Don't forget that tomorrow, I'll be sharing a holiday vignette (any area in your home you've decorated and given a festive holiday theme) and linking up over on Courtney's blog. I hope you join us!

Today I've got the adorable Emily from Go Haus Go to join the Ten June Genie Series. She's got three wishes... what's she going to choose? Before I let Emily take it away, check out a few pictures of her amazing casa. She's got amazing style, right?!

Hi Ten June readers! The name's Emily and I run the DIY and design blog Go Haus Go. Let's get to the good stuff! If a genie granted me three wishes, here's what I'd say:

Emily Snuffer

[ONE ]

The ability to have white furniture, even with two dogs in the house.

White furniture and accessories are my favorite things to decorate with but the dogs make it impossible (dirty paws, hair, you name it) to do in my own home. I used to have many white things and I miss having white as a color choice so much. That probably explains why most of my walls in my house have recently been painted white. I'd want indestructible white decor so I could have my favorite rug, this lovely studio sofa, my favorite Eames chair and white pillows. Oh, and I guess I'd need a pay raise as well to be able to afford any of those things. :)

[TWO]

I want Blair and Chuck to end up together.

I root for them each season... heck, each episode. Yep, I'd give up one wish to reunite fictional lovers. My question is... who the heck is the father of her baby? Any Gossip Girl lovers out there?

[THREE]

I want to call a classic MCM house my home, specifically the Miller House.

The Miller House (pictured above) is a hop, skip and jump from where I grew up in Indiana. If not the Miller House, I'd settle for a classic ranch or tri-level. As long as the house represents a movement that left a mark on design history.

[SO THAT'S IT!]

Thanks so much Michelle for having me! Hope everyone had a great holiday. If you want to stop by to check out my non-white decor or even chat Gossip Girl (please!), you can find me at Go Haus Go.

DIY Cranberry Glass Ornaments

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

I'm so excited to be sharing my very first Christmas project of the season today. I've decided to go with a fabulous theme for decorating around my house this year: sparkle. I'll be decking my halls with some shiny things, a lot of pizazz and a whole lot of glitter.

If you remember from my tree last year, I've got lots of fun sparkly ornaments to use. And when I saw these glass ornaments on sale for $2 at Hobby Lobby, I snatched them up, sure that I could add a little sparkle and call them my own.

To be quite honest, my original thought was to paint a design on the side of the glass ornaments- a fun chevron, some quirky stripes, a few polka dots. Then I remembered that my free hand resembles something that a five-year-old would do, so I opted out of that plan.

Plan B: stuff these guys with something (TWSS). Which is actually a better idea anyways, because I really like the idea of adding an extra 3D element to the tree. Hellooooo cranberries! I simply cut some stems off of a cranberry bushel I found in the craft section at JoAnn's, doused them with glitter and then hot glued each piece to the silver part of the ornament.

It's that simple.

I think the ornaments look so pretty hanging on our tree! Which, by the way, is the first real evergreen tree in the Ten June household history! It smells goooood. But more on the tree next Thursday! : )

How cool is this shot through the ball? Ooooh, fancy photo skillz.

So there you have it! My first Christmas craft of the season. Now tell me all about what you've made so far this season? And, more importantly, head over to Cassie's blog, Hi Sugarplum, to link up and share your holiday craft! She's got a big link party going on, so head on over to join!

Swimming With The Sharks

Guess where David and I went over the long holiday weekend? Snorkeling in the Caribbean! Only kidding. Although we did watch the new Pirates of the Caribbean (love me some Johnny Depp). In all reality, we actually went to the Georgia Aquarium which (surprisingly for two Atlanta natives) we had never been to! As you can see from my nine hundred sixteen pictures above, it was incredible.

My favorite parts? The live dolphin show, the colorful fish, the whale shark, the loggerhead turtles (which I could not get a picture of to save my life) and even the scary shark sharks. But for the record, the penguins stole my heart. I'm sure one of them wanted to hop in my purse and come home with me. Can't you just see Tucker and Maggie and Poppie the Penguin all hanging out in my living room?

Humor me. It's a rainy Monday morning after a long holiday weekend....

What fun did you get into over Thanksgiving break?

Pssst! Don't forget that tomorrow kicks off our holiday link party over on Cassie's blog! I'll be sharing my latest Christmas craft here on Ten June and then linking up over on Cassie's blog. Here's the schedule in case you need a little reminder. Can't wait to see your Christmas crafts tomorrow!

Happy Thanksgiving!

I'm incredibly thankful this Thanksgiving. I'm blessed with an amazing family, a beautiful home, a great job and an incredible husband. Oh and two cute dogs! See, the blessings are never ending : )

I hope your Thanksgiving is filled with as many blessings!

Our Thanksgiving Menu

Thanks so much to all of you for your sweet comments on our simple and sweet Thanksgiving table! Now I'm just ready to fill this bad boy with some amazing food!

In my family, we take food seriously. It's go big or go home! We're big on tradition, so when one of us says "it's not Thanksgiving without ________" we've got to make sure we have that dish! Which kind of turns into about twenty dishes for about ten people. Thank goodness for leftovers, right?

Want to know what's on the menu this year?

I wasn't lying... we've got a LOT of food planned : ) And, of course, it's all done Southern style. Many of the recipes are from either my family or David's family, but I did pull a couple from other sources.

I'll be using Paula Deen's cornbread stuffing recipe, but I plan to add more fresh sage + onions like my great-grandmother used to do. The candied sweet potatoes will come from Betty Crocker (minus the Cheerios... weird!). Oh and of course, we can't forget Paula's famous ooey gooey pumpkin cake recipe (which I frequently tell my family is my own recipe because it always walks away with a lot of love!).

So there you have it! The Thanksgiving table at Ten June. What are you cooking up this year?

Our Thanksgiving Table

Welcome to my very first Thanksgiving table!

All of you should be proud... I've started thawing the turkey, I've done all of the grocery shopping and I've set my table for Thanksgiving! Just call me Suzy Homemaker. Come on, turkey day! I decided to keep the table simple and sweet- many people have told me that even though they're beautiful, one big mistake is to junk up your table with decor, which doesn't leave room for food and for your guests to eat comfortably. So simple and sweet I left it.

I used my everyday dishes (Portmeiron's Sophie Conrad in white and celadon from Macy's) and added the beautiful printed napkins (World Market) and a few natural elements to each place setting in the form of a pumpkin or pine cone. I think they work really well with my natural burlap runner (Target). I decided to save my "give thanks" cinnamon clove pumpkins to dress up the food table. The place cards are free printables from the Handmade Home.

I kept the centerpiece simple with tapered candles (World Market), a mason jar with fall flowers and my late grandfather's turkey gravy boat. Seriously though, how cute is that turkey? : )

We are not a formal bunch when it comes to Thanksgiving, so I think this simple and sweet tablescape will be the perfect setting for my family to give thanks to God for each other, the food and our happy lives.

Speaking of, I'll be back later this week to share the menu for our amazing feast!

Are you ready for turkey day too?

Psst! If you are looking for more Thanksgiving tablescape inspiration, check out Courtney's beautiful table here,  Megan's gorgeous black and gold table here and Courtney's festive plum colored table here! These folks are talented!!
