Somehow or another, I managed to power my way through the list of items I wanted to tweak in my living room! Bravo, me. It really helped to keep a list of everything I wanted to do in the space, so that I didn't feel like I was haphazardly decorating a room. Oh, and it helps to broadcast the list in this big ol' public arena so that all of you can keep me accountable! ; )
Here's a list of everything I tackled in the space.
LIVING ROOM TO DO LIST:
5. paint walls a new neutral color
I fell in love with our old paint color once we had the new rug in the room,
so luckily I didn't have to repaint the walls at all!
6. add new rug

8. deal with the plantation shutters

9. spruce up wall behind couch

So there you have it! David and I are really happy with our small changes to the space... they really make a world of difference. And I'm really happy that, with the exception of the rug, most of the changes to the room were... free! I'd estimate that the entire makeover (including an 8x10 area rug and a new paint sprayer which we can use for other projects!) came in under $750.
This room is our space to crash every day after work. Now, with its cool colors and muted palette, the room is the perfect space to relax and wind down. Somehow, it also feels more homey, like we added items that were supposed to be there all along. I guess that means we did it right! We love it!
