You guys know I'm a big fan of Twitter. And even though I've had the program for awhile, I just learned that you can also stalk follow your friends and their photo feeds on Instagram too. Phew, that's a whole lot of social media, right? But Instagram really is cool... you can take really funky pictures with all kinds of fun settings. Even a cup of coffee can look cool with Instagram!
But what to do with all of those funky pictures once they collect in you cell phone?
I took a little inspiration from Ashley and her gigantic polaroid frame and decided to make an Instagram frame of my own!
The project is actually pretty simple. I made a Picnik collage of some of my favorite Instagram photos from the year. I thought about printing the piece at our local print shop, but then saw a tweet by the Nester about the online print shop Ookiimage. She was actually printing an Instagram collage as well! So I thought it was perfect. And with a $15 + $5 shipping price tag, I couldn't say no.
About five days later, this little guy was in the mail.
Truth be told, some of the pictures came out a little blurry. But I honestly think it was more my fault for stretching tiny Instagram pictures onto a larger print. So I'll work with it.
Eventually we'll find it a cuter frame, but I thought I'd pull out my old, ratty poster frame (from the depths of my college decor stash) for now. It works! I hung the art in the hallway just past our office, right between the door to the master bedroom (right) and the door to the guest bedroom (left). For you observant folks, yes, this little hallway also hosts the stairs down to the basement (also on the left).
This funky art puts a huge smile on my face every time I walk past it. And isn't that what decorating your home is all about? Sentimental. Fun. Stylish.
I also love how you can catch a peek of the new decor all the way from the living room!
mental note: crooked lampshade, art in hallway hanging lopsided,
Christmas message still on chalkboard... keeping it real, baby!
It's the little things in life!
i love that! so vintagey and fun!

ReplyDeletefun fun!!! I was trying to peek closer at all the actual pics! :) and isn't it funny how you don't notice crooked stuff until it's photographed...and uploaded on your blog! :)
ReplyDeleteLove it! Great way to look back over the year. And, not expensive so it can be updated next year without guilt.

Such a fun idea!! Yet another reason why I need an iPhone!!
ReplyDeleteYour instagram art turned out great! And what an awesome price - you can't beat that! And I must say, I love all the arches in your house. They are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI hope this doesn't come off sounding critical - maybe it's the angle of your photos, but a lot of your wall art seems like it's hung sort of high on the walls. Do you place stuff a set distance from the ground or ceiling? My roomie and I go ten rounds on what the "Right" way to hang things is from the ground. Does the design blog world have the answer? :)
ReplyDeleteWow! I love how this turned out! Maybe I should do this for my gallery wall...
