I know, I know- I'm about six months behind everyone else. But I have finally jumped on the Pinterest bandwagon. I've actually had an account for awhile, but just never really dug into the whole thing.
But oh how amazeballs Pinterest is.
I really just couldn't stay away. I mean, I use Pinterest all the time to search for ideas. Why not pin those onto my own account? So now I'm on and plan to start pinning to my heart's content.
Come friend me! I can't wait to find all of you out in the Pinterest world so that I can repin all of your awesome ideas. And I'm pretty sure I have a lot to learn about the world wide web of pinning, so please give me any tips or hints that you might have. Here's one question- do you always change the comment when you repin an item? Or just work with what the previous pinner wrote? Also, is there a way to make certain pins top secret (ie. not visible to followers)? And how many boards is too many? I kind of have about 95 board ideas I'm ready to get started on. Diving in head first, I do.
Oh and since we all learned yesterday how much work I have to do on my basement laundry room, I already started a board with some of my favorite laundry room inspirations!
So glad I'm finally getting on boards with the 2011 trends... hey, better late than never, right?!
I waste way too much time pinning but it's SO much fun!!! Glad to have you in the club. :) i am now following all your boards!
ReplyDeletei really try not to repin, but instead go to the original source and pin from there so the blog gets credit. i usually include the blog's name in my description so that they get more exposure. can't wait to see what you put on your boards.
ReplyDeleteI thought I was the only one living in the dark ages! I do have a microwave! :)
ReplyDeleteWowzers, I didn't think about the original blog not getting credit from a repin. I guess if the original pinner cited the blog then your repin will too, right? I just found the "Pin It" button for my nav bar, so we're set there. Great point, Kara. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteAnd Andi, so glad you're following! So you follow individual boards or do you follow people (and all their boards)? Or both...? HA I sound like my grandma asking me about Facebook!
Still not on the bandwagon, not on FB either! It is all I can do to keep up with emails and blogs I follow!
ReplyDeletewoohoo - following you! I love Pinterest!
ReplyDeleteI saw how many pins I had the other day and I wondered if I was now considered a pinterest addict :-/
ReplyDeleteYou are going to be soooo addicted! I started pinning on pinterest so much that I fell behind on my blog! I can't wait to start following you! You have the best ideas!
ReplyDeleteYay, another recruit! I rarely change the comment, unless there is something really specific I want to remember in the photo. 95 board ideas may be a little ambitious? It just takes so much time to repin a pin to multiple boards. And lastly, there is no way to make pins secret as far as I know - but if there is, I'd like to know too! Happy pinning.
ReplyDeleteI'm following you!! Love Pinterest too! I think your repin is fine as long as the original pinnner pinned correctly. I do like how Amanda from Serenity Now always names the blog in her comment.
ReplyDeleteI don't always change the comment to my own thought... too lazy I guess... When I read comments, I usually just have to wonder if that was their thought or just the other pinner's. :)
As far as I know there is NOT a way to make pins private unfortunately. I liked how delicious had that option.
Happy Pinning!
I look forward to seeing your successful laundry re-do. I'd like to say mine has been stuck in neutral for the past year+ but the truth is it's in REVERSE. Soooo saaadd. Maybe a few more pins would give me a boot. Jo @ Let's Face the Music
ReplyDeleteWell, my friend, I'm right behind you... one of my goals this year is to get up to speed on my months-old Pinterest account. The only thing that worries me is how much time I already spend online-- looks like some new-found discipline will be in order.
ReplyDeleteHappy Pinning-- I'll be following! :)
You're going to love it! It may sound silly, but Pinterest totally changed my life... I was constantly e-mailing myself links so I wouldn't forget anything, but now that I have Pinterest everything is so easy!! I'm following you there now too!
ReplyDeleteHurray for Pinterest! I just signed up to Follow you. If the Pin decription is good, or if I'm in a hurry, I just leave it as is. If I'm Pinning something myself, I always leave a credit in the description, so if it's rePinned, people will know where it came from. And I like to give credit where credit is due.
ReplyDeleteit's been a slow growing addiction for me too. I'll take a few days off, and then suddenly I'm lured back in and I just. can't. stop.
ReplyDeleteIt's kind of amazing though. I need it. Badly.
xoxo
Oh yay...I will definitely come find you!
ReplyDeleteLOVE Pinterest! I change the comment if I have something to say but if they said it best, I leave the original. Happy pinning~
ReplyDeleteI love Pinterest! But I think I'm guilty of just looking and never pinning anything. My boards are pretty slim. =( It's really fun looking though!
ReplyDeletePrepare to be inspired! ...and lose a good hour or so of your day ;)
ReplyDeleteOkay, WELCOME to my favorite social media invention! Pinterest is amazing, I'm totally addicted and can't give it up!

Welcome to Pinterest!! Best, most creative place online! and SO addicting!!
ReplyDeleteOooh yay I will need to find you on there! I usually will change whats written when it says something obnoxious - or if I want it to say something specific- otherwise I just leave it :)
ReplyDeleteI think you can make as many boards as your little heart desires!
xO
You know what they say...pinning is winning! ha! Now we are connected on every social media possible. Yes!
ReplyDeleteI'm addicted to Pinterest! I'm your newest friend there!
ReplyDeleteIf you repin, its still linked to the original pinned spot...not to the person you re-pinned from. Make sense? I change cap if it has nothing to do with pic...i like it to be a good desc for search purposes. I wish there was a secret pin spor! The more followers you get, the harder to keep an idea to yourself!
ReplyDeleteHey, I'm just dropped by in your site, I love reading your blog.

ReplyDeletePinterest is the most fun way to waste an hour or three! Excited to follow you!:)
ReplyDeleteYAY! I'm coming to stalk you! ;)
ReplyDeleteJust became your newest follower on Pinterest! And I don't think you have to worry about giving credit to anyone, at the top right of the subject you pin it always refers back to the site it was originally pinned from. And I don't think you can pin anything without showing it to all of your followers - If I'm not mistaken, in one of the weekly/monthly emails that "Ben" at Pinterest sends out he made the statement that maybe people had requested there be a way to keep certain boards/pins to yourself but that was the point of Pinterest - it was created to share ideas with the world wide web. So I don't think you can do it secretly :)
ReplyDeleteSo floored and honored to see my laundry room pop up in your inspiration board!
ReplyDeleteExcited to follow you on Pinterest and see your laundry room turn to gold.
xoxo!
