Hi folks! Have you missed me? Between my "I just had a baby" rerun series and last week's lack of internet at my house, I've been sparse around the ol' blog lately. I've missed you guys! So I had to drop in and tell you hello and catch you up on what's been going on around here.
First off, little man and I are doing great and settling into a nice routine. I'm becoming more and more confident in all of my motherly duties. I think I've even gotten the hang of changing a baby boy's diaper... let's just say I've learned to keep things covered in between diapers, so we've reduced the number of times a day I get peed on ; )
Apart from baby H's rough case of acid reflux, he is really doing well. We have learned to prop him up so he's sleeps upright, which really helps. I've also cut all dairy out of my diet in hopes that will also help the cause. And I think it's working! If you've got any baby acid reflux tips, send them my way! But all in all, H is such a sweet baby. He cracks me and David up constantly with his funny faces, sweet noises and gigantic, adult-sized flatulence. Seriously, that kid can cut one.

Isn't he the cutest? You probably wish you had a scratch-n-sniff computer screen right about now, because that photo was taken right after he had a bath. There is no sweeter smell than a freshly washed little babe!

This past weekend, my two boys and I traveled north to Hiawassee, Georgia to celebrate my golden birthday on Saturday. It was the perfect fall weekend- we hiked, visited a fall festival, watched football (go Dawgs!!), ate a lot and drove around and admired the changing leaves. I even managed to squeeze in a massage at a local resort! It was amazeballs. If you're ever in the area, let me know and I'll hook you up with the name of the spa. It was amazing!
"H Dawg's first hike" or "chilling in the Bjorn"
David and I decided to do an impromptu photo session at one of the scenic stops in the mountains. For some reason or another, we have never bought a tripod for our camera, but David and I are the king and queen of "set the camera up on the side of the car!" or "balance the camera on this ledge!" Nothing's too crazy to get a good photo, even if it means sprinting from the camera to a pose before the ten second timer beeps. Forget "cheeeeese," in our case, we say "out of breeeeeeath!"
In addition to some pretty sweet family shots like this one, David and I managed to get a few in without the bambino.
This is one of those photos you look back on and think whyyyyyy did I eat that extra bowl of ice cream!? That is one big ol' a$$!
And who knows what's going on in this photo. Typical.
I love this photo David snapped of me loving on baby H. The lighting is amazing!
But my favorite photo of the weekend is this family shot.
I'm madly in love with those two boys, that's for sure.
So there you have it- that's what I've been up to lately! Now fill me in- what have you been up to?!
Happy Birthday sweet girl! Ah how I love the mountains, perfect weekend! and big ass- I don't think so, I think you look pretty fantastic post baby!!
ReplyDeleteYou just had a baby and it looks like you are already in normal jeans!!! That is amazing all by itself:) Cute little thing, that H, makes me miss that tiny baby stage.

Looks like an awesome weekend! Love the yellow jeans. Is your shirt from Target? I was just eyeing a similar one there yesterday. We are fighting colds, so our weekend was boring!
ReplyDeleteThat's hysterical!! You make me feel normal---my husband and i always end up doing silly things like that too. And if you think that's a big badunkadunk---well I'm in trouble. Haha. You look fantastic!! The north ga mountains are beautiful this time of year. If you guys get a chance--hit up mercier orchards near blue ridge and pick up some apple cider and pink lady or cameo apples! Delish!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd a very happy birthday to you!!
awe good for y'all! You look great! And your baby is adorable :o)
ReplyDeleteYou just had a baby. You can have an extra bowl of ice cream (in fact, you probably need it). Also, you just had a baby. It has nothing to do with the ice cream. Also, camera angles.
ReplyDelete(Also - as your adorbs bundle gets bigger, that Bjorn is going to be a literal drag thanks to where the pressure points land on mom and dad's back. I highly recommend checking out an Ergo or similar soft-structured carrier. MUCH more comfortable and much healthier for kiddo's developing hips and spine as well. You'll be able to cuddle and carry him longer which will make you both happy. And he won't dangle from his crotch. ;)

ReplyDeleteHappy birthday beautiful, tiny girl!!! You had a baby a month ago...for sure? I think you used a surrogate. What a beautiful weekend...this time of year makes me really miss our TN days. We've been celebrating Johns bday all last week, and weekend, too! You two freaky libras! He tried to pull the bday card again today, but I told him October meant it was officially over. :)

Great family pics and he is the cutest!
ReplyDeleteYou look amazing! And so happy to hear that motherhood is going so well for you! We're up to much of the same here, adjusting to life with a new baby and loving every moment. You're comment about the gas cracked me up - we're amazed with Hannah's skills in that department too haha.
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful area to visit. You look wonderful and your baby is precious. My daughter's baby has been having problems with acid reflux, too. She has cut out milk and tomatoes and that seems to have helped :)
ReplyDeleteHi, what a beautiful baby boy!
ReplyDeleteWe too struggled with acid reflux - I truly understand. The best advice I can give you is invest in a nap nanny - my son is now 2 and half and still uses it!! I also found wrapping a swaddle cloth around his waist worked too - I read that in the Secrets of a Happy Baby book. It seemed to work well. Good luck.
Happy Birthday!! What an adorable team you three make...pretty obvious life is good in your little world! :)
ReplyDeleteAww...so glad you had a great weekend. Your outfit is adorable!! And hello baby H :) Too cute. Your family photo sesh is adorable. Can I ask where H is in the pics of you and David alone?? Hahaha :)
