Sooo, I've kind of been holding out on y'all. I've had so much fun sharing the photo tour of our new rental house that I forgot to mention the proverbial skeleton in the closet. This sweet house... well, let's just say that it's bathrooms are not it's strong point.
Actually, let's start with the guest bathroom. Besides some grout that needs to be replaced, it's actually super cute. Definitely not perfect, but cute. The black and white tiles are original, which I love.
As you can see, I used one of the shower curtain options you guys voted on when we made over our guest bathroom in our old house. It looks great in the room.
Momma loves me that black and white tiled floor.
And, um, then there's the master bathroom. Do I have to show you pictures? Ok, the only reasons that I'm showing you these pictures is because a) I've already done some fun things to spruce up the room and b) I know some of you out there have heinous outdated bathrooms and you can sympathize. Riiiiiight?
Thar she blows. Yup, it's a big. neutral. box. Actually, a tiny neutral box. Even worse! I didn't even edit those pictures, they're so bad. Let's keep the ugliness real, shall we?
What isn't to love about this room? The linoleum floors, the white walls, the brown on brown vanity. The bad lighting. The neutral on neutral on neutral. On neutral. It's all so lovely, yeah?
But seriously, this room needed some help, so I already dove in and started tackling my list. I think I have some pretty good ideas for turning the room around as a renter, without making any permanent changes. And you know I'll be back soon to share what I've done so far! I couldn't keep you hanging with this ugliness for too long.
And speaking of not leaving you hanging with ugly, remember that one time I lived at a house with a BEAUTIFUL master bathroom? While we're learning all about my new beige box bathroom, let's take a moment of silence to remember this renovated bathroom beauty. Sigh.

oooh i LOVE the tile in that first one!!! your rental looks perfect so far!
ReplyDeleteOh man, I feel your pain!!! I was so excited to share our rental here in Nashville, but the bathroom..oh the bathroom! I would pay money JUST to have a beige box..ha!! ours is now Rust and brown tiles...EVERYWHERE!!! Love following this "Rental" journey with you!!
ReplyDeleteThe guest bathroom is gorgeous & I think that is the PERFECT shower curtain. Having lived in grad student housing for a few years, we've had some very similar looking bathrooms as #2, so I feel your pain. I can't wait to see what changes you've made. I'd add some pretty trays on the counter, a fun patterned shower curtains, coordinating bath mats & some art on the walls! I really believe that there is a place for fun & inexpensive art in bathrooms - especially bland ones! Sarah
ReplyDeleteI love both bathrooms! In the master, you could add a pop of color with a cool Goodwill/thrift store painting over the toilet.
ReplyDeleteOh yes--I have one of "those" bathrooms that need major updating! BUT--we are getting an estimate today on revamping it. woo woo. Love the little black and white tiles in the guest bathroom!! I think your master has potential for sure--Maybe it is because I am comparing it to mine--Haha. Just wait...Pics soon. It is "lovely". ;)
ReplyDeleteOooh I'm with ya on the ugly bathrooms thing. Believe it or not, my master bath is actually way, way worse though! I actually really love your little black and white bathroom, so at least you can go in there and pretend that all is right in the world. :)
ReplyDeleteStill loving that shower curtain! Such a great way to freshen up a bathroom!
ReplyDeleteDon't know why you're so embarrassed....it's a rental, and hopefully somewhat short-term, at that! I'm sure you will be able to bring some much needed color to it, and looking forward to seeing what you do. PS: Anything going on with the sale of your "old" house?
ReplyDeleteLove the first bathroom, especially with that shower curtain.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm sure you'll do something fantastic to the master bath! Can't wait to see what you come up with to dress it up! ;)
Oh, I forgot you'd done that FABULOUS bathroom in your other house!! Well... bless your heart. ;-)
ReplyDeleteBut anybody can make it cute, it's you! Can't wait to see what you do...
xo Heidi
The black and white tile in the first bathroom is awesome! It reminds me of all the tile in the bathrooms that Nicole Curtis does in her homes on Rehab Addict. I LOVE!
ReplyDeleteIt's pretty good for a rental! And as long as it is clean and works :)
ReplyDeleteLooking good over there

WOW those tiles are so so so awesome, my friend! You lucked out!
ReplyDeleteIt was a weird experience to have the first blog post of yours I've ever read be the remodel of the master bathroom of the house you apparently no longer live in. Then the second post of yours I read was more recent and telling me that you're in a rental house now. Ha. That's funny.
