My Favorite Outdoor Entertaining Items

Hey friends! Thank you so much for the sweet words about my patio makeover. I seriously love the space, so I'm really glad you do, too. Now, everyone is invited over for margaritas!

In the spirit of the unofficial start to the summer season and a weekend ahead of us that includes enjoying the great outdoors, I've rounded up some of my favorite outdoor entertaining items that are on the market right now.

This World Market patio set is an increddddible deal at $199. We actually have something substantially similar from World Market that we used on the back patio at our old house and now use on the front porch of our rental house.

Speaking of World Market, they have a new outdoor decor/entertaining line that is amazefest.

 oar serving set

mason jar salt and pepper shaker

red storage stool

While I'm obviously into color on the patio these days, there is so much to be said for a pretty navy and white striped outdoor pillow like this cushion from JCPenney (which, PS, is on sale for $17 each!).

Serena and Lily also has some amazing entertaining stuff you can use on your patio.

 maritime napkin

And of course you can check out some of my favorite outdoor patio Target items right here!

Got any other fun items to add to my list?!

Colorful Outdoor Patio Makeover Reveal

I absolutely love outdoor spaces. One of my happy places is sitting my butt on a nice patio, enjoying some quality time (and maybe a cold beverage or two four) with my friends and family. So it's no surprise that it's important to me to create an outdoor living space at our home. Remember our beautiful blue ceiling screened porch from our old house? Or our sad but colorful little patio from our first rental house? These were some of the most special places in our home.

Now that we're in our new rental house and it's officially patio season, the time has come to set up an outdoor space for this home. As you saw in my patio design plan, I decided to inject some color into our small patio and I partnered up with my friends at Target to do so!

Looking good, right?! Let's back up with a blah before shot.

And once again, the after!

Welcome to my crazy colorful outdoor patio space! The magic in this makeover is that all I did was simply add some fun furniture and accessory pieces. Because we are renting this house, there's not much we can do in the way of permanent or large-scale changes. So a simple, renter-friendly solution that makes a big impact is to dress up the space with some fun, colorful pieces. Want the tour?

This is my view out our back door.

The table is a remnant from a set my in-laws purchased for us years ago. The ah-maz-ing chairs are these metal chairs from Target. Y'all, I'm seriously obsessed with these chairs. First off, the color. Second of all, the color. I'm in love. Third, they stack, which is perfect for a small patio space like we have. We set them all out when we host a lot of people but stack them up along the garage when we don't need them all. Fourth, the color. I freaking love the color of these chairs. And fifth, they're made out of a lightweight aluminum that is totally rustproof.

In fact, all of the Target Threshold outdoor furniture is tested with corrosive testing, which apparently involves 24 hours in a salt spray simulator, as well as weight and temperature tests. It makes me feel good that these pieces are engineered to be durable and high-quality!

The rug is this outdoor woven rug from Lulu & Georgia.

The table is topped with some great serving and other accessories like these ceramic solar paneled lanterns from Target Threshold's summer line.

David gets stuck over on the grill during most of our entertaining sessions, so I decided to set up a lounging area for friends to join David while he's cooking us up some supper.

The adorable outdoor pillows, pretty globe lights (that I strung around the entire back fence!) and chevron pouf create a cozy little scene in the corner. FYI, all of the Threshold outdoor cushions, pillows and umbrellas are tested for color fastness  and are tested to 1,000 hours of direct sunlight exposure without fading. Um, that's a quality outdoor fabric, friends.

How cute are these Threshold cups and rattan serving tray? Love them.

The oilcloth banner (which, hello, is chalkboard on the back... how cool is that?) is from Modern June.

Over on the other side of the fence, we set up a little area with a fire pit. We've got a bunch of these plastic Adirondack chairs that we plan to set up around the fire pit when we have friends over and maybe roast some s'mores. The cool thing about this fire pit is that it has a fire screen or a metal piece that you can slide over the pit to create a table, as shown. So smart!

Seriously, I just love it out here now. Since sprucing up the space, we have eaten countless dinners, drawn many chalk roads (an HDawg favorite) and propped our feet up a bunch of times. It's so nice!

How pretty are the lights at night? Romannntic. I think me and the mister could have a date night or two out here this summer, don't you?!

One more time, here's the before/after side by side.

Now if you're looking for me, I'm drinking a margarita and propping my feet up on the patio!

Craft Room + Home Office Organization Makeover

Friends, I have finally crossed off something that has been at the top of my to-do list since we moved to our new rental house last October: Organize. My. Craft. Junk.

And thanks to my friends over at HomeGoods, I was not only able to get it organized, but I did it in style!

Let's start with the ugly before shots, shall we?

Yup, that's a hot mess. All of my craft stuff was haphazardly thrown into bins... or on the floor. When we moved to this house, I was so excited to use the Ikea butcher block island (that we bought here for the kitchen in our last rental house) as a craft table, but it's really hasn't been functional at all for me since it's covered in junk.

Luckily, HomeGoods came to the rescue. I picked up a few items from their home management department and boom. All of my craft junk is officially organized.

I know, you want details. Let's start from the beginning... the shopping trip. Check out all of the amazing goodies I found at HomeGoods. I knew I wanted some baskets and bins for this space and the selection certainly didn't disappoint. Their storage furniture selection was pretty amazing, too.

Too bad I wasn't shopping for HDawg's room... how cute are these bins?

I finally narrowed it down to some woven baskets and some fabric covered bins.

Okay, nosy, I'll show you what's inside! ; )

In the larger fabric bin, I'm hoarding my ribbon + yarn + twine collection. Seriously, who has a twine collection? Get a grip on your craft gear, Michelle.

In the smaller fabric covered box, I've got all of HDawg's craft stuff, including crayons, play-doh, that kind of thing.

My fabric collection is being stored in the larger woven bin, while the smaller woven bin is holding miscellaneous craft items. I'll tell you what, the pictures don't do the large bin justice. That thing is massive! I could probably curl up in there and take a nap if I wanted to. Maybe not. But a nap does sound nice.

I thought about it after the fact, but I should be smart like Cassie and store my craft paints upside down like she did here so I could see the colors easier! Genius, that Cass.

I stored all of my tinier craft knick knacks in this sliding bamboo silverware tray. The tray (which I didn't purchase at HomeGoods but saw some similar options at the store) easily fit into the top of the smaller woven bin. A perfect place for pom poms.

Besides the bins, I also picked up a few other random organizational items from HomeGoods.

I love this caddy, which holds my "most used" items like scissors and glue sticks. Who doesn't need extra glue sticks at an arms reach? Duh.

I also love this rustic turquoise mail bin that I found. It's perfect for holding my scrapbook paper, card stock and clearly absurd collection of stickers. I'm 30. Why so many stickers?

Finally, I picked up this cute vintage-y knob hook rack. Right now, I have super awesome and important things like painters tape and duct tape hanging from the knobs, but eventually I plan to hang some buckets to hold more craft supplies.

For those of you who are wondering, the linen memo board with fabric storage pockets (which is lacking Little Lady June pictures, I know... I need to print all of her first few months photos out!) is a DIY project I completed with a full tutorial here.

Needless to say, my craft supplies are resting happy tonight. I can't wait to dive into my next project now that I'm all organized and stylish!

Stay tuned for more tomorrow... I'll be back with a sweet HomeGoods giveaway (or five!).

Tuesdays at Ten June

It's my favorite day of the week to get inspired... welcome to Tuesdays at Ten June!

In case you haven't noticed, I'm a huge fan of Sarah's work over on Life on Virginia Street. I've featured her bedroom updates, guest bath makeover and bad a$$ DIY beaded chandelier. Home girl is good. Her most recent project is a laundry room makeover and there are all kinds of things to love in this room! Check out her blog for before/after photos and a full source list.

Savanna's husband built her this amazing dining room table featured on her blog, Eleven Twelve Blog, for their anniversary. That's a dang good gift if I do say so myself! Well done, hubs.

Sarah over at This Sarah Loves painted her powder room vanity with some DIY chalk paint. It looks great!

Jen from At Home in the Northwest just completed a client's living/reading room makeover. She nailed it, right?! This is so "Michelle" in terms of the color palette... light blues, neutrals and touches of black. In fact, I think I spy a rug pretty similar (if not the same?!) as the Pottery Barn rug we have in our living room?! Great job, Jen!

For my pick this week, I'm going back to another ripped out magazine page for inspiration. Blogger Joy from Oh Joy!, the same Joy who worked with Target to create a party supply line, has teamed up with another major retailer- Land of Nod- for another fabulous collection. Seriously, Little Lady June needs this bedroom in about five years. Adorbs.

It's not too early to send me your submissions for next week's Tuesdays at Ten June! Shoot them over via email (tenjuneblog@gmail.com) or on Instagram (#tuesdaysattenjune)!
